Part-time student council tax

Hi all,
Im wondering if anyone can help me please.
Im wondering if anyone can help me please.
I am a part time postgrad student and a single parent.
I have spoken to a lady form my local council who informed me that students don’t have to pay council tax if they’re full time - and then she looked it up in some book she had and confirmed that if you reach a certain number hours a week you study then this will class as full time for council tax purposes. However this lady no longer works there and no I cannot claim student reduction.
Are there any part time students that don’t have to pay council tax?
Please get in touch and let me know!!
Many thanks,
Vicky

No, you need to be full time to get the exemption and you need a signed form from your uni confirming it.1

Actually this isn’t true. I’m an OU student who are always classed as part time (although I’m studying 120 credits) and I have the exemption. They just sent me a letter confirming this and the council accepted it. A ‘signed form’ wasn’t necessary. If you study over 90 credits you are eligible._shel said:No, you need to be full time to get the exemption and you need a signed form from your uni confirming it.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.201 -

If your uni agrees you are studying the equivalent of full time you get it. You certainly wouldn't get it studying 30 credits or part time in a brick uni.0 -
One of my pensioner friends was moaning about council tax. I suggested he could avoid it by becoming a student. He had never been to university and his pension wasn't enough for him to pay off any student loan. There was a course he had always wanted to do so was excited by the prospect of the course, no council tax and free student loan money. Next time I see him I'll have to ask him whether he took the idea any further.1

Read on here a few posts of people planning on that. Also posts from people doing it to get the loans to put towards a deposit on a house.
If they've got the inclination to keep at it and study to the end to get all payments free money.0
