Amazon firestick keeps going onto screen save

When watching the likes of YouTube my Amazon firestick regularly goes onto screen saver mode after only short periods of time and it's quite annoying. The only thing I have found within the settings is selecting the screen save option which gives times of between 5 minutes to 15 minutes and there is the option of off. However if the off is selected, rather than the screen save never showing it actually turns the whole TV off after a short period of time. I would of thought this to mean the screen saver never appears but this isn't the case.

Can anyone help?

Sure its not your TV that has some sort of auto shutdown, and the screensaver normally stops your tv from auto shutting off?

The default settings on my Firestick work fine with the screen saver. Is it an old one? Has it always had this problem? Have you tried restoring default settings?

Thanks for the replies. I would say it does appear to be a TV issue more than fire stick now or that is my assumption but the strange thing is it only shuts down when watching YouTube via fire stick .If you watch catch up TV via the firestick this doesn't happen.

I've selected screen saver as 'never' on the firestick and also set the standby time tim to 'off' on TV but it randomly turns off anytime between 10-15 minutes. Yesterday it seemed to go for far longer but if you turn the TV off and we're to watch again later then the next time you watch it might turn itself off again around or after 15 minutes, maybe sooner.

I can't work it out as its a fairly new TV and this issue doesn't occur when watching just the TV and also never occurred prior to using firestick nor the first few months of using the fire stick.

Have you got another tv that you could try it on?

Or another hdmi port to try? One of my tvs keeps switching off when using a particular port

I have Firestick and Chromecast plugged in to the back of my TV.

I had a weird issue a few days ago with my Firestick.  When it came time for YouTube to play an advert the Firestick would go in to sleep mode and my TV would switch to Chromecast (presumably the next HDMI device).  Pressing PLAY on the Firestick would get things going again.

Switching everything (TV, Firestick, etc) off at the mains, waiting, then switching it back on again seems to have fixed the issue.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have another query. I can be quite happily watching normal TV when the Firestick kicks in on its own. Any idea how to remedy this?
