I was bought a pair of £250 over ear headphones from Richer Sounds as a present less than 14 days ago, but I find them uncomfortable and not very pleasant to wear. The buyer is happy for me to return them.
Not allowed to post links, but their returns page says:
As you can appreciate, we would request that all goods be returned in a reasonable re-saleable condition (please note, for hygiene reasons we are unable to give refunds on in-ear headphones if used). You will not receive a refund for personalised or made to order products. Richer Sounds reserves the right to deduct an amount from the refund to reflect any loss in value of the goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling of the goods by you.
The Which returns page expands on that quote:
A deduction can be made if the value of the goods has been reduced as a result of you handling the goods more than was necessary.
The extent to which you can handle the goods is the same as it would be if you were assessing them in a shop.

If I admit I've worn them more than once could they refuse them? I've worn them several times to see if I could get used to them but I still don't like them. I've cleaned them and they look fine but there's always something about used items you can just tell they've been worn, (even if it had only been once for an hour). Like a smear from a fingerprint you've tried to remove or a speck of dust. Same with the box. It's not torn, but there's a crinkle or two there that wouldn't be on a brand new one probably.

"A deduction" is a bit vague. How much do you think I should expect or would be reasonable?

You have a set of over the ear headphones but the quote mentions in the ear headphones, these are somewhat different

I suppose the question is: How much would you be prepared to pay for a set you know has been opened and used a few times?  Not the full 250 I assume, but how much? £200 maybe?

I posted that because I've seen people suggest shops won't accept returned headphones, that quote suggests they only won't accept in ear headphones. I was more asking what people think would be a reasonable deduction (maybe they won't take anything off, I don't know). Maybe someone has the experience of taking worn headphones back?

Second-hand used headphones  near pristine condition .Retail £250  or similar .
I would pay about £175  but before buying look to see any deals on new and want to know what warranty was compared to new .

You can't return them as you didn't buy them, the person who bought them for you would need to do that and any refund (part or otherwise) would go back to the card used for original payment. It would be up to them to fulfil any return requirements, including time frames for return and negotiate refund depending on how much Richer Sounds want to discount for use.
