Hi Forum Members,
EON told my elderly sister (for whom I am now acting as representative) that it was ending its E10 tariff for customers with complex meters in July 2017. I am sure I have seen posts on this forum about EON customers being told to change these meters much later than that. Can anyone confirm that they had a complex meter and were being charged by EON on the E10 tariff after July 2017?
Thanks for your help

Search the Energy forum using terms such as E.On, Eon, E-On,E10, Economy 10, THTC, Redring, White Meter, Restricted Hours Tariffs, RHT, complex meters etc.

I remember reading (from Eon) on this board that Eon are phasing out a certain type of their complex metering  - I think because they cannot obtain any replacements - but it doesn't cover all their E10 meters. I think it was the 3 rate ones that they were phasing out, not the 2 rate ones.

Where Eon find it necessary to replace the meter due to their decision to phase them out, then there was no charge for a replacement. I think they were offering another type of E10 meter, or an E7 meter or a single rate meter if that was more appropriate.

They have a specialist team dealing with it.

Try the search function if you need more details. It was by one of the approved Eon reps here. (probably Malc or Helen)

    Good morning PMSG,

We have been phasing out some older types on complex meters, your sister would have received a letter if here metering set up was affected. We have a specific department that deal with these accounts and it's called the simpler metering tea,.

Depending on the type of Economy 10 meter that is currently there will depend if we can still support this, if it's an Economy 10 meter with 1 MPAN and 2 rates these meters will be continued to be supported and will continue to have an Economy 10 tariff with cheaper off peak rates.

If it's an Economy 10 meter with 2 MPANS and 3 rates, these are the ones that are being phased out.

Please have a word with the simpler metering team, as they'll be able to give you all of the information that you need.

    Thank you

    Helena

In a word, yes. I had similar but ignored it until they 'discontinued' E10 but told me it would be available if I accepted a Smart Meter. I was on E10 until about a year ago when they switched us to 'Extortion rate'. I then had one happy year with 'igloo', now forcibly back to eon. They are now up to the old trick of double-charging for my meter. They never give up.
