Builder put his foot through ceiling

So having already caused a bit of damage to my flat, the neighbours' builder has now put his foot through my ceiling.
They've put a temporary patch on it but I don't want to be left with a visible patch if possible as it was in good condition before with no cracks. Is the best thing to ask them to replace a bigger section and repaint?

They'll need to cut it back to a clean edge at the joists, put a patch in, tape the seams and repaint the entire ceiling. There is no reason a competent builder should leave a visible patch. I'd be very clear with them that the soundproofing need to be at least as good as before the damage.1

Thanks weeg - that is exactly the advice I was looking for.

Of course they should be fixing it to a decent standard.
Are you really saying that that second picture is how they were leaving it?0 -
@prmsay13 No, that is just a temporary fix (while I got over the shock).
