Toys Outlet Store (online)

Has anyone on here had any experience with the above company. My son (who has some learning disabilities) is looking after his grandmother who is self isolating and his only respite has been in building the Lego kits he has there. An advert popped up on my social media last Friday and was embedded on several news items from pages advertising a three day sale on some Lego kits. One of which was a large Star Wars model that usually retails for about 150.00 but was reduced in the sale to 24.00 (with 20.00 delivery if orders come under 60.00 pounds). I wondered about this for a bit but as I knew it would bring a smile to his face I bought it. I noticed yesterday links to the self same site appearing on the same media also claiming that  it was a three day sale only but when I went on the site the prices for the item I had bought had dropped by another 7.00 and other items were reduced by a much larger margin. I tried to log in to the site using the account I had set up for my purchase but it claimed I had forgotten my password and I then asked the system twice to email me links so this could be reset. Nothing at all was received back. I emailed the address on the original order slip saying that I wanted to cancel my original order (no shipping info received and my bank have not yet received acknowledgement that they have processed my payment). No acknowledgement at all yet. Have I the legal right to cancel the order as it has yet to been dispatched and the money confirmed as taken by them or have I been scammed? I don't earn much but this was such an important gift to send my son who's doing so much for his grandmother that I feel gutted to have possibly been ripped off.

What website did you order from?

The shipping cost is so high to me I’m assuming overseas but who knows, could be a large item.

The fact they are selling an item for not even 20% of its RRP is setting off alarm bells, especially when you say it is now reduced again to barely over 10% of RRP?

But yeah, what website did you buy from?

And the payment was converted to Euros at payment stage...the contact on the email confirming the order was 'Hans'. The whole thing looked pretty legit and I wasn't aware that suspect companies could legally put ads in links to newspaper pages etc...

I would contact your bank. It appears to be a scam site. Its clearly not the Lego website but it’s pretending to be, giving the address and phone number of the Brighton legit Lego store.

Some smarter IT people will probably be able to tell you where the site is based but the fact it’s masquerading as a Lego site and not just a toy store to mean is screaming scam.

I'm going to report this to my bank the minute I finish my shift in just over an hour. Thanks for the advice...much appreciated. Can't believe I fell for it.

Governed by the laws of Malaysia - no attempt to hide it

Amazon have some reasonable discounts on some Lego sets at the moment - but nothing like 70% or 90% off.

If there is one thing that you, or anyone else reading this should take away from this, its that ..

Adverts on social media will almost always end up with you being scammed or ripped off.
I dont think iv ever seen one advert for a product on Facebook that looked genuine.

The REALLY bright torches always make me laugh, as do the remote controlled planes with the obviously sped-up videos

Nothing wrong with the bright torches..  Mine was 50 billion Lumens and seems about right if you
knock a load of zero's off.  You get what you pay for (if your lucky).   Although after 3 or 4 years my
sub £10 torch is starting to flicker unless the battery is fully charged.

Although the mains charger was a total death trap. Super thin unsleeved live wires. Nasty.

Just so you know, after you've spoken to your bank please keep a very close eye on your bank account, I fell for a fb scam a couple of years ago, the payment didn't go though so didn't think too much about it then a couple of months later I had some additional charges and charges in malaysian ringgit. I had to cancel my card and get a new one sent out.
Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada
