Euro Car Parks

In February I parked in a Sainsbury’s car park and received a parking charge notice in the post as I parked there out of hours. I sent an appeal saying I am dyslexic and have a processing disorder and wasn’t able to understand the sign which is half way down the road of the car park (doesn’t stand out clearly and is next to a weird pull in area so it isn’t somewhere you’d automatically look). I didn’t receive a reply to the appeal and I received another letter saying the charge has gone up to £70 and I must pay promptly. I emailed Euro Car sparks and said that I haven’t received a reply for my appeal and they replied about 15 days later saying I must pay £70 promptly and with a screenshot of the computer where it says they have sent me an email replying to my appeal but haven’t actually sent me a reply?! Does anyone have any guidance/ what should I do now? Thanks very much.

You will presumably have already read before posting, the sticky pinned thread in capitals, top of the forum: NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST?  Not sure what you want us to add.

What's different about this compared with the other ECP thread this afternoon?  That one covers it.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully, when life gets back to normal, it will become impossible for those scammers who are left to continue their vile trade, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
