Parking Fine from Smart Parking Ltd

My partner has been sent a parking ‘fine’ from Smart Parking limited for parking in a retail park open tarmac area for 15 while we ate food. This was at night time too and the signage was not clear, the area was completely empty and the business area where we parked was not operating and was closed at the time. My partner was sent a ‘fine’ to which I said ignore.

We have now been sent a letter from Debt Recover Plus asking to pay £170.00. They have even said that due to COVID-19 they will help us and break down the fine into instalments. Basically I am just wondering should we ignore this as I wish to give my Partner some peace of mind. Thank you

So frustrating!  Why did you tell them to ignore it...sigh.

We haven't advised ignoring private PCNs for SEVEN YEARS!  In 2013 some of them started to sue people and now that's really taken off as nationwide scam, using the courts as a vehicle in tens of thousands of cases (which we win, but people prefer to do appeals, generally!).

This was so easy to appeal and win at POPLA because Smart can't hold a keeper liable.  This was a cinch to win and now it's too late to do it that way.

Why are you asking about DRP letters...did you miss the 4th post of the NEWBIES sticky advice?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The time of ignoring these 'fines' is long gone I'm afraid.

Ignore anything the above poster says about the process being 'hard'.  He has been misleading posters.
