Can somebody ask a Board Guide to move this to Praise, Vents & Warnings?  Since forum "improvements & upgrades" I've never been able to find how to do it.

    Me neither.
The old board used to have board guide names at the bottom of each board so you knew who to contact.

Actually I can't find any record of the transaction so now I can't remember how I paid!

Are you sure you did pay ?

The sites often hint that they accept PayPal by using the logo but "due to a problem " it's allegedly not working and you have to use a debit card making it harder to get your money back

I am suspicious too but "https" (with the s) works. Is this not usually a sign of authenticity?

    No.
It's a sign that any traffic between your own computer and the server of the website is encrypted so it can not be intercepted.
Nothing to do with the authenticity of the site or wether or not it is a scam
  • I was caught by the ecco shoes scam, very cross with myself for not realising but there you go. I immediately stopped and changed my credit card, they had already taken more money than I had agreed to pay, not a vast amount but still more than they should! I also raised a dispute, but the credit card company say they can't do anything until 6 weeks have elapsed.
Funnily enough I received an unsolicited black 'Givenchy" baseball cap yesterday - it came from China - I wonder if its the same company - has anyone else received anything like this?
  • Lyn3333 I also fell for the scam, and received an unsolicited pack of cheap face masks from China which I assume is from them. I am currently in email contact with them and getting nowhere fast. They state the goods were delivered and that they must have been stolen by my neighbours - even though everyone has been home due to lockdown. They offer 65% refund but of course I won't give them card details or anything else now. How can this be okay with facebook? How can they know that scammers are hijacking legitimate companies and ripping off FB users, and do nothing? I can't even work out how to contact FB about this, although I reported the ad, but they never do anything about anything. Will never by from FB or China again.
  • I too have fallen for this scam.Money was taken from bank account in USD on 4th June.I've not received anything. Who should I report this to?   The police ? I realise there is no chance of getting my money back but feel I should pass on any info I have to the authorities.

ActionFraud. They’ll add it to their filing cabinet of FB scams

I think you are being polite with the filing cabinet, more likely an entire warehouse full of filing cabinets. A quick run through Facebook this morning shows up several dodgy companies pretending to be reputable ones, or overseas pretending to be in the UK. Some are more laughable than others with Micheal Kors handbags (not easy to notice a mis spelling) or Clarrinns moisturising face creams. Lots of ‘free ‘ items (just pay p and p and sign up in the small print for recurring deliveries you can never stop etc).
