My wife is self employed - can she get any help?

Hi There, i am currently employed and earning circa £80k, my wife set up a self employed beauty business in 2019 but due to her first year start up costs she didnt register a profit. we have two children, she can't go back to work yet, is there any help she can get?

If she didn't submit her tax returns by 23rd April 2020 then no. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-a-grant-through-the-coronavirus-covid-19-self-employment-income-support-schemeWhether she'll be entitled to the bounce back loan, i have no idea.

She needed to have started trading in the 2018/ 2019 tax year. Your earnings are too high to entitle her to any benefits.0

On the facts you have given she is not entitled to the self employed grant. Your earnings will preclude any claim for universal credit, and as she was self employed she won't be entitled to new style JSA. She could try applying for a bounce back loan. I assume she worked from home?0

she worked in a salon which she can't open or use at the minute. she filed her account for last year, but didn't show any profit due to start up costs0

If she is the ratepayer on the salon, was she eligible for the small business grant? If not, she could try:
