Increasing my credit limit?

Hi all,
I'm completely new to the site so please feel free to direct me somewhere if this question has already been answered. At the moment I have a £3,000 credit limit with Santander. I won't be getting a mortgage for a few years but I have been thinking over the last few days if it is worth extending my limit so that I use a lower % of my limit? I use the card for my day to day spending, have no issues paying the amount owed fully each month by direct debit and have no other debts. Also, is there any drawbacks if Santander rejected my request? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your limit is low so it won't harm to ask.

But you'd be better off applying for a back up card or two.

Woudnt do any harm to see if you can when i had a santander credit card they got a higher limit set for me quite quick when i asked, have a shop around see if there are any other cards you like the look of as well, remember to space out your applications to avoid negative impact on your credit file.

If you have online banking login via the desktop webpage, click on your credit card in your accounts list then click "manage my credit limit" on the left tab boxes.

A new screen will pop up, click the "set my credit limit" box and a slider will show up, if its allowing you to move the sider up it will stop at your pre approved max increase amount that Santander will allow you to have, if you cant move the slider up then you are not eligible for an increase, if this is the case try checking it again next month around the 18th, that is when the limits usually update on the system.

My credit limit is £500. Very small although its a zero credit card and only use it for my general holiday spend, my highest credit limit card is the Natwest Rewards Credit Card, which is £6700.
