My employer (Construction Sector) has today extended my furlough period until the end of June despite the government telling us Construction Works can restart. Their reasons are that this is because they wish to run on a skeleton staff basis but I know other departments are using the scheme to their advantage as they have no work. Can anybody offer some support/guidance?

How lovely, someone who actually wants to go back to work! A refreshing change from some recent threads on here.
No practical advice to give you, but fair play.3 -
That is of course their choice... it’s really strange seeing this particular scenario as it hasn’t happened very much!
I don’t believe there’s any guidance we can give as we said before before furlough is entirely the employers choice and that works both ways.0 -
Thanks Mrsn. I was working on a project before the lockdown and that site is now shortly reopening so it just doesn’t seem fair or reasonable. I appreciate the company has difficult decisions to make but this just seems morally wrong and I’m sure others will be getting out in the same position.0

Might form part of longer planning for the business. The economy isn't going to fully restart at the flick of a switch. As a consequence difficult decisions may have to be made by the management in the short term. By retaining you on furlough all options are being left open.0

Depending on what you are constructing they may feel if they work fully now they will not be able to sell the end product, at the speed they can produce it. So are using the government scheme to cut down on costs.
