Currently on furlough and received risk of redundancy letter

I have received a letter from my employer today stating that my position is at risk of redundancy. This hasn’t come as a huge surprise as I know the business was struggling somewhat before Covid 19 and we manufacture for companies such as Laura Ashley who have filled for administration. So have lost a couple of our major customers already. I have been asked to attend a consultation meeting on Wednesday 13th and can opt for this to be a telephone meeting due to social distancing measures.

I am currently on furlough, today is the start of my 8th week on furlough. I am usually paid weekly and so far have been paid up till 26th April so a couple of weeks behind and waiting for the next payment. I have been continuously employed for over 8 years on a full time contract. I’ve done some research and I believe I should be entitled to an 8 week notice period and a redundancy payment of 8 weeks pay.

I’m not sure what will be said at the meeting on Wednesday but if my notice period starts then does my wage revert to 100% or can they keep me on furlough for the notice period and pay me 80%?

Does my employer have to continue paying workplace pension until the end of the notice period? I have logged into my workplace pension provider this morning and the last contribution my employer made was at the start of Feb for January’s contributions so they are already behind on payments.

Will I continue to accrue holiday pay until the end of my notice period and will I be entitled to any holiday pay owed. Our holidays start January 1st and 1 have only used 2 days so far this year.

Sorry for the lengthy post and so many questions if anyone can shed any light on any of these points it would be greatly appreciated 😊

You are entitled to certain statutory payments as a minimum. Your contract of employment may be more generous. The first thing to do is check what your contract of employment says about notice, redundancy, payment in lieu and holiday pay.

If you are reliant on statutory entitlements, here is a good place to start:
    https://www.gov.uk/redundancy-your-rights/redundancy-pay
It is worth looking at all the pages, not just this one.

Statutory redundancy pay is normally based on the previous week's income for a weekly paid employee on a regular salary. Otherwise an average of the previous 12 weeks is used.

    Holiday pay is covered here:
    https://www.gov.uk/holiday-entitlement-rights
It is worth looking at all the pages, not just this one.

Holiday pay is based on the employee's normal rate of pay, and this is generally taken to mean the rate before the temporary reduction while on furlough.

Notice is different again. There is a detailed opinion here:

Thanks I’ll have a read of these I’ve already looked at the pages on the gov website just not sure how everything works with being on furlough. I am only entitled to statutory as I no there is only the minimum in my contract. Thanks for your reply
