informed when 0% interest ends?

Hi, Do Credit card companies inform you when your 0% interest ends on "Balance Transfer" or/and "Money Transfer", or is it down to the customer to keep track?

Well paper statements usually show how much the estimated interest would be next month if you only make the minumum this month.
  • Some inform you, some don't and regarding statements, the information on when your BT/MT ends is again on some of them and not on others. Off the top of my head, Barclaycard inform you 2 months before end AND its on statement if you scroll down far enough. Its definitely on MBNA, Virgin and Halifax statements, never seen anything on Tesco or Santander. These are just who I have had dealings with and I might not be 100% accurate but reckon I'm close, hope this helps.

Ty, that`s the answer`s I was looking for. Looks like I`ll have to try & figure out when they end. Thanks again.
Maybe Martin & the team could lobby the regulators to make sure all customers are notified when their deals are close to ending? :)
  • I think they are supposed to let you know when deals are ending although whether its compulsory for them I cant confirm. The best way I find of getting the best out of BT/MT deals is to knock a month off whatever deal I take (18 becomes 17, 12 becomes 11 etc) and put that end date on a spreadsheet. That way I always pay everything off AT LEAST a month before the deal expires and don't get caught out with trailing interest or worse 'full fat' interest. BT/MT,s are a great and cheap way of borrowing but only if your very disciplined.
  • I have one ending in July and I had a letter in April reminding me, that was Barclaycard.

I found this on the Your Community section of Tesco Bank's website:
We will notify you 2 months before your option is due to expire and this will appear on your credit card statement.

It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

I can't remember being informed. I keep track. But I know that with Santander, you can look at your monthly credit card statement in e-documents. If you read it carefully, in the small print near the end there is a line about the 0% balance transfer rate, including the finish date.
