Being furloughed correctly?

Hi,
I have been working the whole time during the corona virus. Most of the staff in the company I work for have been furloughed. I work on the website side and agreed to stay on to help my employer as the website is still running. A few weeks ago my partner had an asthma flair up and it scared us so I asked to be furloughed to protect her. I was refused and told by employer that I have to work because there is still work for me but I should take a weeks holiday- which i did. I have been back for a week and had a disagreement with my employer about how she is treating me and my staff. Suddenly on Monday morning I have been told I am being furloughed. The timing is off as she adamantly refused me when I asked to protect my family yet after we have a disagreement she furloughs me. Is she allowed to do this even though there is work for me?

Your employer has to follow the normal employment legislation when selecting employees for furlough. If you want to take matters further, you could use your employer's complaints procedure, but if you have worked there for less than two years you could be dismissed without redundancy, unless your employment contract says otherwise.
You cannot be furloughed unless you agree to it. Your agreement does not have to be in writing, but the employer's communication to you does (including email). If your contract of employment is amended (for example to reduce your pay to what the employer can recover under CJRS), normally you have to agree to that.1
