QR Code on collection

Hi, just had someone collect an item and they had a QR code that the seller (myself) had to scan. I have never seen this before and had no idea how scan it. Has anyone seen this? It’s a good idea if it’s to guarantee an item was collected.
Thanks

Presumably in-lieu of a paper receipt given social distancing etc.
    Who was the courier?

I sold the item on eBay as a private seller for collection.

Yes but who collected- the buyer? If so this is making me nervous , you didn’t take PayPal did you?

I sold an item - they asked if they could pay cash on collection which was fine as would have been tricky to post so they turned up and handed over the cash (not PayPal) but then they knocked again and said this QR code had come up on their phone (she showed it me and it was on her eBay purchase page) saying she needed to get the seller (me) to scan this as some sort of confirmation the transaction had taken place. I had no used how to do this so just marked as paid and dispatched.

If it was cash I wouldn’t worry anyway, just mark it paid and despatched in EBay , no one really needs proof of anything.

I would have said got nothing to scan it with. Only got an old desktop PC and no camera.

You need to be careful what you scan, 99% it was probably fine but you can auto install stuff from scan codes.

Typical ebay, we have to find out about things via tamebay!
I do wonder how this will work though with paypal - will they change their terms and conditions to accept proof of collection and not just proof of delivery for full seller protection? Also what about chargebacks for fraudulent use of a card - will that be protected with this scan as well and if so how will the scan be stored and for how long?
