If you have 21 years of NI contributions still to make, do not make any voluntary payments now.
You will have 23 + 21 = 46 full NI years. 35 NI years will qualify you for a full state pension (but as long as you are working, you will have to continue paying NI until you reach your state pension age). If you have more questions about this, please ask on the Pensions Board.3 -
I just want to say thank you to everyone, actually things have picked up a bit and I also found that I can invest in a pension and that money is offset against my UC. So, I'm making payments when I'm working of £100-£200+ into a Vanguard pension, and that seems to come off my "earnings" thus meaning that I'm able to save to a pension whilst still knowing that I'm going to be able to eat/pay my rent for the next month. Please tell me that I'm doing this right?0
