Closed Tandem Credit Card & Refunds

As many others I'm sure have, I allowed my Tandem Credit Card to close in March when the added on the massive fee to stay a member.  
Due to the current pandemic, I'm due quite a few refunds that I wasn't expecting due to goods and services that can no longer be provided.  
My questions are - all merchants are going to want to refund to the credit card used to pay them but as this card is closed:
a) will they be able to send a refund to that card
b) if they can, (how) will I get it?
c) obviously companies are rammed with enquiries at the moment and as a 'former customer' I may (although hopefully not!) be put to the back of the queue - what happens if the refund is issued but then you cannot access it. 
I'm presuming there's some legislation and guidance in this area?  Also, has anybody else had this experience with Tandem and how the process works with them?  Guessing there's a few others in the same boat as me on this one given everything that's going on and their introduction of a fee.

    I've been getting numerous refunds to my Tandem card - lots of travel planned for this year which has bit by bit been cancelled.  Although the card has been "closed" the account still seems to be active and will get refunds credited to it.

    I did not delete the app when Tandem closed (because I thought this might be coming) and have been able to see refunds come into the card using the app - my husband by comparision deleted the app and when he reinstalled it he couldn't get back into his account.  That's an issue because companies are taking days or weeks to process refunds so just knowing that a refund has been processed doesn't mean that it's been paid back to Tandem.  If you've deleted the app I expect you'll need to call on a regular basis to see what has arrived back on your card account.

    When it's reached your Tandem account you can call them on 020 3370 0970 option 2 and ask for them to transfer the balance back to a bank account.  By default, they will refund to the bank account you paid your card from (but I think if it's under £1000 you can nominate another bank account).  They have quite a backlog in processing transfers, one was only a couple of days but more recently it's taken a couple of weeks.

    I think Tandem are doing a decent job on this; they could be faster with the payments but I'm sure they reduced their staffing when they closed the cashback card with the expectation that customer service enquiries would drop, and they have probably increased.  I haven't had to wait ages on the phone, and the CS reps have known what to do and been friendly and helpful in doing so.

    I issued a Chargeback with Tandem ,  very easy, I also left to go to a Aqua cashback card.
    Think I might have the odd refund as well.
    New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.
