Renewing tax on car needing first MOT 28/5/20

I applied online to renew my car tax from 1st June but it wouldn't let me. The car will be 3 years old on 28/5/20 so it needs its first MOT from then but I undersatand expiring MOT's have been extended by 6 months due to the lockdown. But what about new cars that haven't been MOT'd yet? Will it automatically extend on 28/5/20 enabling me to renew the tax from then but not before? Or do I actually have to get an MOT during the lockdown before I can tax it?

From previous posts on here, I understand the database is only updated a few days before the MOT is due. So I'd try again maybe from 25th May.

Your vehicle’s MOT expiry date will be automatically extended by 6 months if it’s eligible. This will be done about 7 days before it’s due to expire.

Indeed;...and that is exactly how it appears to works in practice.
My daughters car was first registered on May 15th, 2017 so her 1st MOT was due by May 14th 2020.
On May 6th the DVLA website was still showing the 1st MOT due date as May 14th.
However, on the 7th May the website was updated to show that her 1st MOT is now November 14th, 2020.
The website actually says “MOT valid until 14 Nov.2020” even though the car hasn’t actually had an MOT test or certificate issued.

Forgot to keep checking mine. But 5 days away and it has swapped over to November. So at least 5 days before.

Wait until end of May.
My MOT originally expired 28th April and tax expired 30th April. Tried to renew 15th April (as soon as reminder came) but didn't work. I did it on the 30th and went through.0 -
Just checked my daughters car, MOT due the same day as mine and it still shows May? So maybe not at least 5 days?
