Changing bank details for state pension

Options
I had two 123 accounts with Santander.  I have changed one to 123 Lite but the other one I am closing.  All DD's etc have been transferred over automatically but the second 123 account I have to do myself.  One is my pension and the other is a DD for the Council Rates.  I am have terrible trouble (as expected and accepted) getting through to Pensions on the  phone so can someone please tell me how to change the details on line.  I have been going around and around their website for the last hour and all I can find is a phone number.  Many thanks for any help you can give me.  I am having the same problem with changing the Council Rates too.

You have to phone the pension service. there is no online option.
Most likely the same with your council tax payment but it depends on which council.

For my council tax I downloaded the DD form, filled it in with the CT account and bank details and wrote in bold across the top of the form CHANGE OF BANK DETAILS ONLY.  Check your council web site.

Is it possible to switch the unwanted 123 into the 123 LITE?

What xylophone said. It should be possible to ask Santander to switch.

Better phoning HMG at 0800hr as Santander would not do that for my DDs when I closed down my 123 accounts into one. It would have made more sense to transfer the account to another bank and transfer it back.

Any reason that won't happen automatically as part of the switch to your new bank?

    If it doesn't, see https://www.gov.uk/contact-pension-service/report-changes
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

If you changed banks via the Current Account Switching Service then the payment should automatically be re-routed to your new account.

Alternatively you can register for the Manage your State Pension service and change your bank details there.

Failing that you can Contact the Pension Service by phone or post.

Whilst you can pay for your ice cream with a tap of the watch.....

I understand the need for 'traditional' methods for those less electronically literate but it is 2025!
My folks won't do, nor trust direct debits.

It is indeed 2025, rather than 2020, when that quoted comment was posted!  As above, this can now be dealt with online....
