Morning
We have a booking for 3rd June for hotel only with TR, I paid a £5 deposit with balance due 20th May.
Have messaged them to cancel and TR tell me I need to pay an extra £35 to cancel booking.
Should I do this or maybe wait until nearer 20th May and see if they cancel it for me. I cant see online how far in advance they are currently cancelling
Payment was due by Paypal and I have cancelled the pre-approved payment so that the balance doesnt go out on 20th May.
Thanks for advice.

What are the T&Cs of your booking? It is obviously changeable/cancelable now, with loss of deposit (£40). You could wait and see if they do cancel, in which case you'd be entitled to a full refund. However, in theory if the hotel is open and accepting guests then they won't cancel. And nearer the date, you may have lost some booking flexibility options.0
