Cornish build property

hello looking for some advice I'm in the process of buying a type 1 Cornish built terraced house from CHP which I'm currently living in. I understand that these houses should be bricked in order to sell my mortgage advisor has said that I can buy without being bricked? I was wondering if anyone had ever bought one of these properties and whats the process of bricking i.e can you brick your self (will i need planing permission and building inspection etc) thanks

    I'm surprised your mortgage advisor says you can find a lender without replacing the walls because Cornish is on the 'defective build list' and not normally mortgageable. Bungalows might be different.
    Anyone who has the skills and knows the regs can build; even me, and I've no qualifications whatever. So long as the building inspector is happy with the standards reached, all will be fine.However, modifying outer walls and supporting an existing building is a specialist job. Exactly who does it would be bound to affect insurances, both yours and the neighbours'. You might run into problems there.
    Planning shouldn't be an issue, but it's needed, because you'd be changing the look of the main facade.
