Travelodge. I have one night booked on 19th June at Travelodge Gatwick. At the moment the hotel is closed to ordinairy customers and is open only for NHS and essential workers.
They are only offering vouchers if you can't use the hotel. If this arrangement is still on on June 30th can I demand a cash refund?
In my opinion Travelodge is cancelling my booking not the other way round.

I got a refund back in March after being offered a credit note I said no, as they cancelled the booking on me at 3.30pm when we were 10 mins away from arriving, but it did take a lot of emails etc to get the £ back. You need to decide what you want, and start to work on getting it.Are you sure you will be travelling on the 19th / 20th out of gatwick?Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100/100miles

No I'm not sure but assuming we won't. I made the booking to stay the night after a return flight which I am expecting to be cancelled as the outward flight already has. I just wanted to know if anyone else had tried to get a refund. I am not going to cancel the booking. If the situation is the same i.e. hotel only open for certain people, then I shall insist that they have cancelled and take it from there. It's only £42 but it's the principal. Premier Inn refunded immediately. Looks like I might have a fight on my hands!0

You're entitled to a refund if and when the hotel confirms they won't be able to provide you with accommodation - so, not yet, by the sounds of things.0

Thank you. I have just checked the website again and the information re vouchers is only for flights up to 21st May. I presume they will contact me to cancel my booking and refund my money nearer the date. Same strategy as the airlines.0

Yes it appears they have updated their information again since you last posted, they say they will contact people who booked a room between 21st May and end of June, at latest 1 week before the check in date, so at least it looks more hopeful being able to get refunds out of them. I have a booking for 1st June so I will report back how it goes, would definitely rather have the refund as my finances have been affected quite badly by the pandemic, then choose at a later date whether to book another stay somewhere! (most likely not with Travelodge again as they seem to be making this hard for people!)patray said:Thank you. I had a booking for 23 May. I have just received an email today from Travelodge cancelling my booking. They have given me the option of taking a voucher with an extra 25% added. I can choose to accept this by midnight on Sunday by clicking a button. If I choose not to take the voucher, they will assume I want a cash refund and this will be processed and will be credited back to my credit card within 14 days. So hopefully a result and well done Travelodge.1

Update: I didn’t accept the voucher by midnight. A couple of days later I received an email to say my refund is being processed. On Friday 15 May, I received notification refund has been processed and will be refunded to my credit card. Checked today and full refund is there. Even though it was a non-refundable, Super Saver room. So well done Travelodge for doing the right thing and very promptly. Very impressed.0

I have a Travelodge refund query also. My nephew was getting married on 29th August and i had booked a double room for me and my husband and one for my stepson and his wife, both super saver rooms non-refundable. Now with the Covid 19, my nephew has had to change his wedding date to May 2021. Reading on the Travelodge website, they are saying they will issue a voucher for the super saver rooms, however, my husband is one of the people that is shielding, so unless a vaccine is developed between now and May, we will not be able to attend, as he will not be taking any chances with 100 people+ at the event - I feel they should refund us, should I insist on a refund?:j First wins: £120 and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee DVD :j0

If they are open on 29th Aug then you aren't entitled to anything, they don't even have to give you a voucher, that is a risk with non-refundable rooms.bubblecut said:I have a Travelodge refund query also. No, you are not entitled to a refund. It is your decision not to travel; the wedding changing and your shielding husband isn't the concern of Travelodge.bubblecut said:I have a Travelodge refund query also. You chose a cheap, non-refundable room and are choosing not to travel.0
