Zanussi oven element replacement.
anotherquestion
Hi folks,
Looking for a few tips on how easy it is to replace the heating element in a Zanussi ZCV550MWC electric cooker about 6-7 years old. it has two ovens, element went in main oven about 18 months ago so got a guy to put in a replacement element.
So it has gone again it seems, so have a few questions if that is ok.
1 as regards getting the best element replacement are there inferior products, is it best to get get a genuine Zanussi Part?
2 I understand from reading online it is not a major job to do, screw off back of main oven then screw off the element, pull out the two connecting leads, and connect to new element fitting everything back as before, any tips here are the cables hard to pull out of the old element?
3 I am thinking of doing it myself making sure that cooker trip switch is off at main fuse box, any other tips appreciated?
4 I am going to try to source an element locally but if you know of a a good supplier as well would appreciate the name or a link.
Many thanks for your kind help.

Simple job IF you are DIY minded? as long as power is off. If not get someone competent in?
You need to get exact model number:

Fitted a new element in a friends oven last year. Used a generic "off the shelf" element, and it hasn't been any trouble at all. Got it from a local repair shop and it cost less than buying on line even after taking in to account the P&P charges.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

ransomspares and espares used with no problem in the past.
You Tube is the ticket for this kind of thing; most likely a tutorial there that will walk you through it.1 -
Thanks so much to everyone who replied, its really appreciated. I will go with the above I think.Hasbeen said:

Only one thing, the Model number or PNC as shown on manual is 948904026 without any further digits whereas there is a further 00 or 01 at end on list you have linked to, but part no is identical (Our Part Number: RS82764) so hopefully that will sort it.

Thanks a lot haven't ordered yet, think I will order two, having one as a backup will be handy considering that I have gone two already since buying cooker, so if you have a spare code would be great.

This made me smile because I used to have a Beko that ate elements like yours does, so I used to do the same.anotherquestion said:Thanks a lot haven't ordered yet, think I will order two, having one as a backup will be handy considering that I have gone two already since buying cooker, so if you have a spare code would be great.

Good luck with your fitting though I'm sure you won't need it, space can be a little tight but it's not usually a difficult task.1 -
Thanks so much to everyone for their help, just placed my order and an extra thanks to Hasbeen for the code which saved me over £4.
