Refund via Credit Card?

Hiya
I have paid TUI in full for a holiday to Tunisia for myself and my sister, departing 3rd July.
i paid using my Lloyd’s credit card and whilst I know TUI have only cancelled holidays up to 11th June at present, I wondered if I can ask Lloyd’s now if they can attempt to refund me, or will I have to wait until TUI cancels, try getting a refund from them (which by all accounts is extremely difficult) and if no joy, go down the credit card refund route?
I don’t have holiday insurance as always purchase just before the holiday (lesson learned!)
thanks
Gabby

No, because your holiday has NOT been cancelled. You need to have patience and do NOT cancel it yourself first.1

If only there was a long running existing thread for TUI with all this information ...Ex forum ambassador

In any case credit cards arent going to be indulging in TUI chargebacks given TUI are offering cash back once cancelled. Yes a hoop or two to jump through but the offer is there.
Also travel insurance a bit irrelevant given its a package holiday you would be getting a full refund on.0 -
You should wait and see what happens. Extremely likely to be cancelled. In which case a chargeback may be possible. Is your card Visa or Mastercard?I ask because Visa have changed their chargeback dispute rules to exclude most, if not all, COVID19 related claims. Mastercard had not done so the last time I checked. It may still be possible to begin a claim, but it seems that a merchant would simply need to point to the involvement of COVID19 to defend the dispute, if they decided to defend it.As mentioned above, there is also a dedicated TU thread, which you may find useful.1

Chargebacks wont be happening when TUI are quite openly offering refunds of cash.0

I have had a chargeback processed on a Mastercard for Virgin flights, even though Virgin are offering cash refunds. My argument was that if a cash refund is being offered, but is being delayed purely due to processing workload, then there is no reason that Virgin should dispute a chargeback (which is no more than a refund processed by the banks without the merchant having to get involved). If you can convince your bank to commence a chargeback, it would be a pretty weak reason to dispute a chargeback for a supplier to say that the customer is entitled to the money, but that they haven't had time to process it themselves yet, and so they want the money back from the customer, until they have a chance to give it back to the customer themselves.1

Card company "do you have you repay this money"
Holiday company "yes"
Card company, so you can't dispute the claim then, as you admit to having to refund it.
Holiday company err
