I had a card through the post yesterday, telling me that my Norton internet package had autorenewed, costing me £79.99!!!!
Checked the bank account and the money was taken on 1st May.
I am absolutely livid, is there anything I can do?
I am sure when I purchased this, it was around £29.

Its auto renew  after the initial 'cheap' offer which you agreed to by default...............     and to makes things worse you don't even need it in Windows 10.

    Not even worth £29

contact Norton and cancel and bank to get a chargeback perhaps ?

    Get a refund

NortonLifeLock refund policy exception due to COVID-19 outbreak

While everyone across the world continues to navigate the uncertainty of COVID-19, NortonLifeLock is committed to supporting our customers throughout the course of this pandemic and to providing continuity of service.

The NortonLifeLock refund policy is applicable for 60 days, however, we will honor the refund requests that are made outside of this period, due to the limited availability of phone and chat support. To request a refund, visit Norton Refunds or contact NortonLifeLock Member Services and Support.

    Refund policy exception

For all retail and Norton Online Store purchases made between 1st of January 2020 to today's date, the refund can be reviewed for exception. For review of exceptional refund, we need the following information:

    • Purchase date needs to be after 1st of January 2020

    • Product key or Product Serial Number

    • Order Number for Norton Online Store purchases

    • Proof of purchase for retail purchases

    Phone and Chat support availability

Out of an abundance of caution and adherence to local government guidelines due to COVID-19 outbreak, some of our support representatives have been advised to remain home. This is causing longer than normal delays in answering your call. At this time, we cannot confirm an exact date when we will be restoring the regular phone and chat support. We will keep the NortonLifeLock Support website updated. We thank you for your patience and for being a valued subscriber.

    Norton Refunds

Norton products (including subscriptions and Automatic Renewals) may be refunded within 60 days of the purchase date. Shipping, handling, and any applicable tax are not refundable except in certain states and countries where these items are refundable.

For exceptions and to know more about the return policy, read the full Norton return and cancellation policies.

Visit the Member Support and Services home page before you request a refund for assistance with common questions or issues.

I respectfully suggest turning off 'auto-renew' next time you decide to purchase any software online. Norton may indeed charge a small fortune for their Security suite  (if purchased directly) but considering you agreed to the renewal in the t&c's, then they haven't done anything wrong. Amazon offer a Norton 360 licence for only £13 pa, so far cheaper. In the meantime get in touch with Symantec and ask them to refund you the extortionate £79.99 - just say you forgot to switch off auto-renew.

Well T&C's are there to tell you what you are agreeing to, if people choose to ignore them then they shouldn't really be complaining on public forums should they?

Funny how T&Cs suddenly become the focus of attention when something happens that the user doesn't like, and its even better when it turns out that the event the user doesn't like was in the T&Cs they didn't read, but agreed to in the first place.  But then of course its everybody else's fault at that point so...
