Furlough or SSP
CSVA
My mother is 80 and works 18 hours/week in a pharmacy. Following government guidelines to isolate as high risk , she informed her employers that as of 23/3 she would be isolating. She has since been paid SSP , could / should she be furloughed ? She has received no communication from her employer, just a payslip.

SSP is correct. Although companies can furlough staff that are shielding it has never been made clear that it is a criteria by itself.

Did she receive the actual shielding letter? Because of not they are actually being generous in paying the SSP.With her employment being in a pharmacy and this still being a key area I wouldn’t have expected her employer to apply for the scheme in any event.0
