Parents card so no s75 cover...Life__Goes__On said:
Was it your credit card you paid on?GilesO said:That is true, but they are refusing to refund and pointing to their suppliers’ policies. What should we do next?0 -
The flight part of course we are not pursuing at all. He had to come back very early and that isn’t STA’s fault but to try and wash their hands of the other element of the package is awful. They are basically claiming that all the package elements have different T and C’s and I have had a good look through and cannot see that. I see the word ‘package’ all over his receipt though.0

Son paid on a debit card though. From now on I think we will all be paying via credit card! And I see packages will be popular due to the protection (not in STA’s case at present!)0

Good luck with your claimBolt1234 said:Son paid on a debit card though. From now on I think we will all be paying via credit card! And I see packages will be popular due to the protection (not in STA’s case at present!)

This can be a grey area, as there need to be "direct relationship".GilesO said:Parents card so no s75 cover...
But it could be argued that your parents that suffered the breach, they paid for a trip that isn't happening.
It depends on how you want to handle it, you could try the credit card route involving your parents, or small claims court yourself.
You can also complain to ABTA,

Apologies for the delay in replying.Life__Goes__On said:Did you buy accommodation and tours from them? what method of payment did you use? how was payment billed? did you get any vouchers from STA (not for the refund)
I paid for everything in one go on my credit card, but only the tour, no flights included. Have already got a refund for the separate flights working through. STA are offering vouchers, bit of confusion over whether they're offering 100% or 110% vouchers but they are offering them.
Thanks for the help!0 -
Do you want the vouchers or rather a cash refund?chrispclay said:I paid for everything in one go on my credit card, but only the tour, no flights included. Just want to check, when you say "everything in one go on my credit card" is it just billed as one transaction on credit card and that included tours and accommodation.

Ideally I'm after a cash refund. Just gives me the freedom to maybe do something else next year depending what's happening.
And yes, all billed on one transaction - tour and accomodation.
Thanks!0 -
Good news for you, you booked a package holiday, so comes under the package holiday regschrispclay said:Apologies, i should have been more clearer.

A package holiday doesn't have to include flights, if other parts are booked eg your tour and accommodation and it is all one transaction.
By law you are entitled to a cash refund within 14 days.
If they are refusing to pay out, then I would go thought your credit card and ask for a Chargeback for that transaction.
Tell you credit card company that STA have breached the contract as they are refusing to follow the legal requirement of that contract.
If the credit card company refuses, then say you want to make a complaint as you do not agree with the decision.
I feel that is the best first step, but others might have different opinions.
