Keep a diary (all of you) and mark down exactly what you spend every day, that will show you where your money is disappearing to.

First diary! I know this is going to help me so much. The SOA shows I have £1190 leftover a month so I'm going to transfer £1000 to a savings account on payday, then the day before the next payday throw it at debt. With the aim of having more and more here and there to add as I go along.

However, I agonised for the last week about buying a new MacBook Air for £999. 12 months interest free. I've decided to go for it since mine is falling to bits and I use it every day for work and home, but my god I've never thought about a purchase so much in my life! I have literally been laying awake at night trying to decide! I figure this is my new life now though and the old days of just spending without any thought or consideration whatsoever have now gone.

Welcome to the diary board. I know you already have received lots of advice on your SOA and on the debt free board so hopefully you can crack on now with your debt busting and get this gone as soon as possible. Maybe you will begin to get some interest free offers before too long which would help get this moving quicker. Do you have a debt free date in mind that you are aiming towards?
  • Ouch on the MacBook but if it’s something that you use daily for work and home then it’s a considered purchase.  Fab that you got it on a 0% offer, just make sure that it’s clear before the 0% offer ends but I’m sure you will.

Welcome to the lying awake thinking about purchases! And that's really what it is all about. Considering every single transaction against a budget and needs vs wants.

    Good luck

Hi, i can't remember if it was discussed on your DFW thread, but are both overdrafts at 0% ? And do you know if they can be cancelled by the bank at any time?
Good luck with your journey :)

GL with the diary and DFW

I know so of what ppl post and ask seems quite pointed (and sometimes stern!) But the fact there's no BS & everyone is here to help everyone else achieve the end goal is a good thing.

Personally I think if you need the macbook for work that's OK, with stuff like 0% and warranty its an investment. It's just a case of hammering out the rest of the DFW budget now!

They're not 0 but I couldn't work out online what they are. I put the monthly repayments in my SOA which only covers interest- £100 on one and £50 on the other. They could be cancelled I guess but I've had mine 7 years since I was a student and wifey has had hers as long as she can remember!
