Entitled to refund?

We booked a holiday to New York and Mexico for April 2020. When flights were cancelled we were told we couldn’t get a refund - only a voucher - so we rebooked at same price for October 2020. I’m now worried we are best not to go in October as lots of Coronavirus likely to still be around then, Are we entitled to a refund on the basis we were told wrongly that we couldn’t get refund for April trip? Thanks. Alan

No, you accepted the voucher and made a new booking. Any cancellation would be on the terms of the new booking.1

Who did you book with? What method of payment did you use?
Who told you, that you couldn't get a refund?
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Do you have any proof that you requested a refund, and were told that a refund was not permitted? It's possible that any misrepresentation of the legal position would invalidate the acceptance of the voucher and the rebooking. Certainly not 100% watertight but then few things are.Who did you book with, and how did you pay?I would share your concerns about travel in Oct or in the forseeable future. Quite aside from the virus itself, the restrictions, when travel restarts in earnest, may make it a very different experience.Even more importantly there is a very high chance that any travel insurance you have would no longer cover you for anything COVID related. There are many ways that things could unravel. Turn up at the airport with somebody in your party with a raised temperature, go through thermal scanners, find that your whole party is denied boarding, with no refund and no insurance claim.1
