Vitamin C is vitamin C is vitamin C - its chemical name is ascorbic acid, so as long as that's what's on the ingredients label and you get a high enough dosage, you should be fine wherever you buy it from. You can even get pure ascorbic acid powder (though tablets are easier, of course).0

Nowhere.
They’re full of mind control drugs planted by the government funded by the bankers

Well, possibly. You'll get different fillers and binders in tablets, but as long as the dosage is what it says it is then the rest is kind of personal preference. And something like Vitamin C is really hard for us laypeople to sense for sure whether it's doing anything because it's gone within 24hrs, whereas things like iron or B vitamins or vitamin D we can see from blood tests whether what we're taking is making any difference. With those we can also possibly tell physical changes (stronger nails, hair falling out less, more energy, whatever) whereas with vitamin C it's still difficult.spencerrothchild said:

I do take mine from Holland and Barrett because I buy my other supplements from them when they're on special offer, and in bulk it works out relatively cheap, plus their dosages are higher than what you might get in a supermarket own brand for the (bulk, on-offer) price - and I stock up on enough at once to get free delivery.
But if vitamin C is the only thing you want to take then something like a supermarket own brand should still be fine, or ascorbic acid powder is still much better value if you can find a palatable way of taking it (add a gram to a glass of fruit juice, maybe?)1 -
Thanks that is helpfulSpoonie_Turtle said:

You can take vitamin c from fruits and vegetables, like broccoli, kale, spinach, and many others.

Ascorbic acid is not a vitamin and it’s not Vitamin C. Where are the mineral co-factors?For Vitamin C to be Vitamin C it must contain many other things.
Vitamins are biological complexes and dont come in singular form such as ascorbic acid.....thats just what a lab can produce....and can actually have a negative effect on the body.
Vitamin C is best obtained from diet.
There is no scientific evidence that Vitamin C protects against colds etc either.

I've not heard that before - do you have any sources you could direct me to please? What other things must it contain? (I'm not being contrary, but genuinely asking because I'd like to learn *and* not be telling other people wrong information!)QuackQuackOops said:Ascorbic acid is not a vitamin and it’s not Vitamin C.
