@custardy When you said "However for you,you cant pay for Tracked with the stamps" - sorry but can you clarify - you mean you definitely cannot use stamps on items to pay for tracked or signed for items at the Post Office? I can only use these stamps for regular mail, and nothing else?
You can use stamps to pay for signed for or special delivery (tracked and signed and guaranteed for next day though this is now by 9pm rather than the usual 1pm due to the pandemic). The post office will attach the relevant barcode and give you a proof of postage. You can't use stamps for 'Tracked 24' or 'Tracked 48' as these services can't be bought at post offices only online directly from Royal Mail. However, at the moment they aren't taking actual signatures so as already mentioned if your items are under £20 and you don't need the extra compensation from 'signed for' you can use the barcode number from a standard parcel to get delivery confirmation. You should be able to add this to an item not received case.

You say you can use stamps to buy Tracked and then go on to say you cant use stamps to buy Tracked?
Please use clear terms as it just adds to confusion.
I assume you mean Signed for and Special delivery.
You can use stamps for the "Signed For" and "Special Delivery" services.
Think Im in some lock down fever session here.
Why are you repeating to me what I posted 2 posts before yours?

Because you appeared to be confusing the issue for the OP, who appeared to need the answer in plain English without extended explanations about the separate service you referred to in several of your posts.

    That's why I repeated it.

It was covered in the first replay to the thread.

As a member of the RM posting panel, I also get lots of postage stamps.  However, when I used to sell a few items on Ebay and took the parcel to the PO, which was situated in a local village supermarket, the assistant would refuse to allow me to use the stamps I already had, insisting that as the parcels were to be specially labelled, I had to buy new stamps.
Other assistants would allow the use of my stamps without any problems.
I decided to email Royal Mail for clarification, and they replied quickly, stating that whether I wished to use recorded delivery, special delivery etc, there should be no problem using the stamps I already had,  They also stated that they would look at retraining regarding this issue.
I hardly use Ebay to sell these days, and sold my collection of large letter stamps on FB Marketplace, but kept a copy of the email sent by RM, and will try and find if you would like a copy.

Personallly I don't think there is much of an advantage using signed for on items worth under £20 as can still claim from RM just with proof of postage.
