I heard on The Times that the chancellor of the exchequer is considering this.

I am sure the government are considering a lot of things. Until they make announcements we will not know what happens.

It would be strange to make such a firm commitment, for which the public made plans for, to 2 months later perform the biggest u turn ever, by pulling the rug from the feet of millions, leaving them slipping and falling.

Although very unknown what the extension will be yet, I think the context of the £30k would be for any extension of the scheme not the current scheme payments due to be made.0

Lots of rumours abound (on SEISS, CJRS, and lock-down measures) and we won't know on any until the Government make an announcement, which they do not need to for SEISS until late May. There is another widely circulating rumour about changes to CJRS, but I won't do it the honour of repeating hear as it is just speculation. Would expect, though, that the change to both would be similar in approach.0

If the government reduced the £50,000 cap on SEISS for an extra month of SEISS grant, HMRC would have to check everyone's eligibility again.0

that is sad

To be fair they never changed the policy on that. Just the details are never as good as the headlines.amykirk1996 said:
