Redundancy while on furlough

Hi, Thanks for your response. Aren't the government subsidising my wages though? Therefore it wont cost my employer anything?sharpe106 said:
Except for asking them to delay the redudancies no. Although as it will still cost them they will probably decide not too.JoeHouston said:I am currently on furlough however my employer has announced redundancies at the end of the month.
If I am made redundant is there a way for me to remain on furlough and continue benefiting from the government grant?
Please help?!

The government has been very clever about this. The company can claim what they actually give you. So that does not cost them anything. But it still costs them to pay somebody to process it and you also maintain all rights of an employee. So basically you accrue holidays. They still need to pay if even if it is only a top up. So rather than people getting upset over the government not helping them they are getting upset over companies not furloughing them, it is not helped by the media saying companies have a moral duty to do it, but no mention of how they expect to pay it. Neither the government or most media organisations are re-employing people just for furlough. But yet both are expecting other companies to do it.JoeHouston said:

They aren't subsidised for the full cost of your pay and, during your notice, you will be due 100% of your pay.0
