Self employed grant

Good evening Mr Lewis,
I need some advice and I believe you are the man to help. I realise that you may not reply to my message or even read it but I have searched the internet to no avail. My partner, brother in law and father in law all have been self employed since 2017 working together on the same jobs for the same  agencies. With the recent COVID pandemic they have all lost their jobs.

My father in law received a letter stating that he was eligible for the grant, with details of where and when to apply the other two have not. My father in law informed my partner of this correspondence and he used the online tool to check if he too was eligible. The online tool came back that he was not eligible and the same for my brother in law. They all fit the same criteria and haven’t exceeded over £50,000 a year. They have all worked together since 2017, so how is it that my father in law is eligible and they are not?

My dad is in the same situation, he has been self employed for over 30 years but he to isn’t eligible. Neither of them have any other source of income which is really sad and difficult at this point in time.

I hope you can help and point us in the right direction of what we should do, they have appealed against the decision

Many thanks

Faye

The online tool has been giving some unexpected results. Try again on Monday, say. The other option is to contact HMRC, and it looks as if they have already done that.
