Argos disappointment

So. I collected an item from Argos Whitchurch earlier with the intention of giving it to someone as a gift. I picked up the box and noticed that it was damaged and that the item was clearly a return with Argos return stickers all over it. I then asked for another one. The member of staff initially denied that it was a return. They then refused to change it as they are not accepting returns currently. I hadn't even left the store! 🤦.
I asked for help on Argos online chat and they said that they couldn't help me as I had bought it from a store. Useless.
I cant really afford to buy a second one. Pretty frustrating. Moral of the story, inspect with eyes before accepting items in Argos.
P.s. how much disruption can you legally cause in a shop? Asking for a friend 🤣

I'm sure the usual apologists for shops will be on here very soon to explain how it's all your own fault.0

The problem with Argos is that very many items are returned under the "unsuitable" guarantee and are perfectly re-saleable. The return label is usually just that, an instruction to return to the shelf. Was it simply the box which was torn or damaged?Superfuse said:So. If it was just brought back "unsuitable" it very well may not be worth your time pursuing this. However, if the Return label includes a brief fault description, then you really should not have left the shop with it at all as it was clearly their mistake in presenting you with a faulty/ used item.In your position, I'd go back to the shop and explain that it is not your "return" but a complete !!!!!!-up on their part!(But do check the item and labels before doing so...)1
