Flights cancelled to Orlando so consequently we can't get to the apartment we've booked through Hotels.com. I've contacted them and they say they have to get permission from the apartment before they can refund any money. We had a non-refundable booking but we paid Hotels.com directly and not the apartment. Why if we've entered into a contact with Hotels.com do they need permission from the apartment to refund money?. Thanks for any help.

If the apartment is open for guests, then you are not due a refund (legally it's not the appartment's issue on how you get there)kammx4 said:Due to fly out on the 13th of June.
Hotel.com have to ask the apartment to see it they can come to an arrangement and get your money back.
This issue of booking accommodation and flights separately is coming up a lot at the moment as the protection you have is far weaker than when booked together with the same company.
If they refuse a refund, then you might be covered with travel insurance.

They would only deal with if there was a breach of contract, if the apartment is open, there is no breach.

That might change nearer the time.
All you can do atm is try and chase a refund. Hopefully the picture will be clearer nearer the time.
