Late Payment to Very.co.uk

Hello,
I need some help if thats OK. I recently missed a payment of £5 by 11 days to very.co.uk - I had paid my BNPL account but not my normal account by accident. I realised the mistake when I saw my new statement and immediately paid the balance.
I have recently found out this has drastically effected my credit rating! I have never missed a payment before, and from what I read this will effect my credit rating for the next 6 years. We had hopes of a mortgage next year, and I am now worried this silly mistake may have scuppered our chances. Is there anything I can do?

Ring them up. Apologise profusely for your error. Request that they do not record a negative marker on your credit file. Blame it on COVID-19!!
One bad marker should not impact upon your chances of getting a mortgage.

Thank you. I'm so annoyed. Do you think it's better to email or call?0

That depends on what you feel comfortable with. It might be nice to do it on the phone, but you might start panicking and it is much better to correspond by email or snail mail instead, as it starts a paper trail.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Credit score means nothing, no mortgage lender is going to care that you had one late payment in 6 years!1

A payment plan or agreement should have been setup beforehand - you can’t go around blaming missed payments on COVID.0 -
I think you're probably right. I guess it's worth a try to see if they'll remove it though. More annoyed that such a small, obvious oversight has had such a detrimental effect. Frustrated with myself and with Very. Would have appreciated a phone call or something! Ah well. Thanks for your feedback.0

A single late payment on a catalogue account won’t set off alarm bells1

is the late payment 100% recorded. These accounts usually give you around 14-21 days to pay from the due date. Ive had many a late payments with catalogue accounts by 10-15 days. They always tell me you have until the next statement date to pay before it gets marked late0
