No you will not get a CCJ, just so long as you keep all your unsecured creditors 'in the loop' and do everything the right way.

Have a good & deep think about the car.  You can afford everything if you do it all correctly.  And the time it takes to repay your unsecured debts will fly by.  You may not even need to pay every last penny.

I started preparing this earlier but you will see some common themes with W2L:
One of those soa things is exactly what was needed.
There's no quick fix here and I think you know that. The good news is that you can afford your mortgage
To start with you need to maximise the income (check your benefits on turn2us but they look about right)
Then look at reducing (even by small sums) as many of the expenditure items you can.
MSE energy club can help with the electricity
There's guides on this site re Car insurance; likewise phone and intrernet
    What's this?
    Other child related expenses............ 250
I think the car on HP is  doing a lot of damage. If it's true HP, and you're near the end of it you might want to see it through. Otherwise you need a strategy to get a car that you own that isn't going to tie up a massive amount of cash, and look at a voluntary termination on the hp.

    Hiya
    Council tax is over 12
water  is just the rate they give me when we bought the house    not a meter.
    mobiles are contracted sadly.
electricty we signed up to a deal [its a cold
    house)
Food shopping we do shop at aldi  this includes nappys, we have 6month old    4  and 3
my eldest is still in nappies but  he is autistic and non verbal.
Hair cuts  is once a month for children , my husband uses clippers   And i rarely have my hair 1-2 year.
child related expense is my sons dla money.

The car is on hp which i got 4month ago but its essential for our lives  so i want to try not to part with it.

were in a bad situation arent we :(
    Nothing that can't be sorted.
So your son's DLA (middle rate care? £59.70 per week) is an 'in' and an 'out'. What do you do with it in practice? I wonder if regarding it as income would be the smart thing to do with it at the moment.

If you are careful with water (and I realise that may be difficult) a water meter costs less than rateable value. I think (hang on will check yes it's right) if you elect  to have a meter and it doesn't work out you can switch back:

If you have a meter installed and decide having a water meter is not for you, you have two years to decide whether you’d like to switch back.
When I had one installed they messed up and gave me £200 credit as compensation - I didn't pay anything for water for over a year! It's been a good move for me as rateable value charges had gone to over £100 per month.

    Keep posting. I'm subscribed now.

    Thank you.
Soon as my husband is home from
    work i will
    discus  the car issue.
    The deal
was over 60month and we are only 6 month in or so. The water meter i will
give it ago soon as the lockdown period ends.
The dla i try to use it for my son   It also covers damages tv etc, i would  just feel really guilty as using this as income.

What’s the story with such low wages? 50 hours per week on minimum wage is nearly £1,900 per month, so this suggests that the main earner is in the bare minimum that they could earn, and not doing particularly many hours.
While others are giving good advice on cutting costs, I think that you need to have a proper look at how you could increase your income too. Two adults and three children with only one parent earning minimum wage for a short week is never going to be easy.

Can I ask why you are saying you need a 7 seater car when there are only 5 of you?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    Hiya morning
7 seater was because there was more choice of car with 3 child seats across  also it comes in handy when carrying more people.

my husband works 37 hours a week
my income is based on universal credit.
    Income cannot be increased  sadly.
we have 3  children with my  eldest having a disability.
i struggle 24/7  and days are tough  i wouldn't want my husband to work more as tbh i need him at home.

Others will be more knowledgeable but I would say key questions are
Do you know how you’ve got into so much debt, is it constant overspending on day to day, a change of circumstances or big purchases on things? You need to know this to change habits.
Have you considered why this wasn’t tackled sooner as it looks like family may have assisted in past. I appreciate you say life is challenging but I think you need to mentally understand why this time will be different tackling it.
Finally, get some support from the free charities like stepchange to guide you through as first priority should be informing all lenders so interest can be frozen and a repayment plan worked out.

Good luck, admirable you’re now dealing with it.
  • Are you claiming the disabled child and carers element of UC? Look on your award and screenshot if unsure!  Have you renewed your DLA for your eldest? At 3 if he is still in nappies and non-verbal it sounds like he has quite significant needs. MRC sounds about right but now that he is age 3 he might be eligible for mobility, don't do anything without consulting an expert first, as doing a change in circumstances could mean the award going down instead of up!

Bless you, my son is ASD (but his speech etc. are all normal) and I know how hard life is, I don't have a husband but if I did I wouldn't want him to work any more hours either.

You just can't afford a 250 month HP car sadly and high insurance.

If you go into any type of debt management plan it's very unlikely that they'll allow you to budget for the family repayments.

50 for internet seems high. I pay £23.50 for fibre and phone line from talktalk.

Have you checked if you're entitled to council tax reduction? You usually have to apply separately from UC, but shouldn't  need to provide evidence as they will take your info from UC claim.
