Loveholidays.com - passing the buck for flight refunds

Hi All
My hubby and I booked a holiday with Loveholidays.com in November of last year to fly out to Krakow and stay in an apartment in the city, so basically a package deal, or so I thought! I had an email from them yesterday to say that the holiday is cancelled as we were due to travel on the 17th May, and that I could accept the refund voucher. I was surprised to see that the voucher only covered a partial cost of the holiday and was minus the flights. I had an online chat with a team member from Loveholidays.com who told me that I had to go to the Easy Jet website and go through the my booking page to ask for a refund as due to data protection they can't sort it out (!), once I ask for the refund Easy Jet apparently send it back to Loveholidays.com who would then refund me! I was under the impression that as the holiday company they would organise everything in regards to refunds as they are ATOL and ABTA protected, which made me think that I would be fine if anything went wrong. I paid Loveholidays.com independently and did not book flights and accommodation separately, I used their website only. As it turns out, Easy Jet have yet to cancel our flights to Krakow and as such I cannot actually request a refund!! I am so angry at this as I paid Loveholidays.com directly and they have left the running around to me, they didn't point out that I can't ask for a refund if the flights haven't yet been cancelled.
I will have to go through this all again next month as we also booked a short trip to Portugal with them...……….flights for that are with Ryan Air!
I am really disappointed with the whole thing and wanted to let others know that this might happen to them. I am guessing that I am just going to have to wait and see with Easy Jet until they do cancel the flights but at the moment it looks like flights are cancelled 2-3 days in advance.

Was it just one payment to LH when you booked trip?

Hiya
Yeah, it was the first payment with one final payment due last Sunday - which they emailed to say that they weren't going to be taking, which was great!

Then it's a package holiday, and under the legal rules they should cash refund you in 14 days
The 14 days isn't going to happen, but it's not up to you to chase EJ, that's their job.

Exactly what I thought!

If you paid via a card you could try a Chargeback on that transaction saying LH are refusing to refund you.

I used the credit card for exactly that reason, hoping not to need it! I have been in touch with LH again today so will see if they come back to me with a solution, otherwise I will be in touch with my card provider. Cheers for the advice, hopefully when I try to sort out the next holiday refund it will go a bit smoother!0

Will be glad when it's back to normal, whatever the new normal will be.
