Bathroom leak

Hello,
About 6 weeks ago at the start of lockdown, within days typically we had a leak. It leaked all under our bath, it has come through underneath in the kitchen so the ceiling had a small leak and crack. Which we managed to drop but it’s left the crack and marked ceiling.
The bath we took the panel off and left a tray underneath and hubby managed to tighten whatever it was. The boards under the bath and just in front of the bath which is down the centre of the bathroom, have rotten. The tile has broken in one place as the board under it is soaked. It’s a small bathroom maybe 2.5 x3. So 2/3 of the room has wet boards.

We didn’t think to claim on insurance as we were in lockdown and just thought we would have to leave it and manage it ourselves and get it repaired once lockdown lifts but then last night I said to my husband surely it’s still ok to claim now. We’ve never made a claim on our home insurance in 29 years since we’ve lived here. I’m guessing this will be covered or will they say we should have rung when it happened? But with lockdown we couldn’t have anyone in the house as we have health conditions so self isolating.
Any advice please? If covered will they repair the floor boards? Replace the bath? Kitchen ceiling?
Thank you
Libby

Give them a call and see what they say is covered and what isn't and then what your excess is to see if its worth making a claim.
