Scanning in Gimp

I'm trying to scan an image into Gimp, through create>Scanner/Camera, but the dialogue box to select my printer, doesn't appear. I tried updating my printer drivers, but I have the latest drivers installed. I've tried just scanning, from the printer settings in Control Panel, but in the preview, it's parts of the scan area with nothing there, and won't let me change it. As I said, I have the latest drivers, and the printer itself is working, just having trouble setting the scan up. Any ideas? It's a Canon MG2550s.

Have you tried the windows fax and scan under the windows accessories?0

Does the scanner work normally outside of GIMP?
I just use the scanner software to scan an image and then open it in GIMP and then edit as normal.0 -
Well, that didn't seem to be working properly. It was scanning half the photo, and blank area, and trying to import as 2 pages. Just tried it again, for the 4th time, and it seems to be working now. Still not in Gimp, but I guess, this will have to do. Thanks for your help.0
