Confused with Anti Virus Software

Windows defender is fine, I use kaspersky all the time I can get it for a reasonable price, around £15 for 3 computers for one year.I am a bit paranoid so I pay for protection even though I don't need to.0

Rated highly by nearly every man & his dog on Wilders Security forums. Nothing wrong with paying for AV software as no AV is perfect (incl the built-in Windows Defender) and each software has its pro's and con's. The trick is not to pay silly money for AV software, ie don't buy the software directly from the official AV website. Amazon or a trustworthy seller on ebay are usually good places to buy cheap AV software.stragglebod said:
Highly rated by who exactly? Why does it not surprise me that a website called AT-Test thinks that people should buy paid anti virus software? Who finances the site?Highland76 said:The AV review charts don't lie, despite what you might think of Norton. Norton was 1 of 4 AV suites to score 100% in all 3 categories, in recent tests by the highly rated German review site AV-Test. In fact it beat both Malwarebytes & Windows Defender in tests:

I would only install McAfee on your PC if I really disliked you.
Windows 10, Ublock Origin and NoScript and do not visit dodgy sites. Dont click the advert links in Google, and never click anything on Facebook.
Stopped using AVG because it got bloated. Stopped using Avast a while later because that got the same. Just bloatware to slow down your PC.
I want my AV to do one thing, scan files and alert me to to possible issues. I dont need it sandboxing a program that I wrote because it does not
recognise it. Windows opens a large box where it appears to just give the option of not running it or not running it. Where is the allow button?
Have they found that that most users click allow on anything that pops up?
Yep my mum probably
Best AV program sponsored by... is...
