Tui Holiday Cancellation Policy

Lots of talk in press about social distancing measures being introduced on holidays in 2020 (if they go ahead). The Tui cancellation policy states you lose your deposit if cancelling.
Do we have anymore consumer rights given that the holiday we placed a deposit on could now be considerably different. Who wants to spend thousands on a holiday if you have to book a 1 hour slot at the pool/bar/beach/restaurant , constantly wear masks or if your young children have to undergo the stress of having blood tests at an airport. at what point is the holiday we placed a deposit on considerably different.

Surely the contract I have with the Tui must be based on the product I ordered being realised. At what point is the holiday on offer different such that you could claim and recover all monies (inc. deposit).

None of what you mention would materially change the holiday.
If you were to confined to rooms 24/7, you'd have a case. For a service as potentially variable as a holiday, people are generally familiar with the need for flexibility.1 -
Why would anyone go ahead with their booking if the social distancing measures are punishing; it does not sound like any holiday.
Tui wont be able to sell holidays if that is the product on offer. I think it is grounds to atleast get discount, obviously Tui won’t do that.
you watch Tui will have to sell all these cancelled holidays all at rock bottom prices0 -
If they were 'punishing', then as I said, you would have a case.
But if just minor adjustments to keep people safe as in your example, I don't see the issue.
Thanks for the heads up on the TUI sale though. I'll definitely be watching for that and make sure I get in quick.0 -
I wouldn’t down play the potential adjustments as being minor just yet until they are announced, it would be a big mistake and foolish. What are you a tui rep?
Being pricked and prodded in an airport pre / post flight with the threat of going into some mandatory foreign quarantine, being forced to eat a meals in an hotel bedroom, being forced to wear a mask all day, being told you cant visit the beach or pool. Sounds like a fantastic family holiday
Fill your boots and enjoy your cheap holiday0 -

I see you have taken your hypothetical example up a notch from the your opening post. It would be foolish to make up your mind though about the adjustments until you know what they are. Make your decision on the facts at the time.1 -
And assuming your holiday goes ahead to begin with anyway.0
