O/S Daily Thursday 7 May 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunny start but air is cool. It should warm up as day progresses according to the forecast.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my cuppa and my porridge. DS1 still in his pit, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last might was fish, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk. I had baked fish and veg. Tonight will be gammon, egg and chips.
I'm now on days' off - I'll be doing a few household chores today.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thanks NMLC for starting. It's a nice sunny morning here, and the forecast is good.Well. our carpet cleaning so far has gone well, and no smell of old wet dog!! I know that using a machine at home can never get the results that a professional carpet cleaner does, but it's done pretty well.By the time we got back from the hospital, and I'd bought and posted a birthday card for one of my Australian grandsons it was practically lunchtime, but we got started after lunch and did the 3 piece suite then the carpet. The muck in the recovery tank was shaming, there's only two of us most of the time!!Then did our bedroom, and you can see the difference. Today it'll be our living room, which gets a lot of use, it's next to the kitchen and we eat in there. This was the old wet dog room last time, but not this time I hope. That was yesterday - we were tired, what with moving furniture about and the general upheaval, and the place is still a bit of a tip, but it'll get sorted.Nothing else to report really. I was going to ask or say something to Nelski but can't now remember what it was, but I can pop back later.RR, hope you are ok, and anyone else who is sad or not well - take care folks14

Good morning, lovely sunshine again.
I had a wakeful night so am in the middle of cleaning the cooker. Total waste of time, it gets grubby within a couple of days.
Need to get washing done and clean floors and that is it for today, pretty boring really.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Morning all.
Good Grief AOD! You put me to shame. I also woke early this morning, made a cup of coffee to take back to bed with my book, got back into bed, reached for my book and knocked the coffee off the top of the COD which serves as a bedside table. So there was I at 6.30am moving furniture and shampooing the carpet.
By 7.00 I was back in bed with another coffee and my book!
I can't hang about today. A neighbour has offered to pick me up and take me to Tescoes for Wrinklies Hour. I can't pass up the opportunity to stock up on fresh stuff so I'll be off shortly.
If anything exciting happens I'll let you know.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A perfect metaphor for my life would be someone trying to stand in a hammock.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.14 -

It's quite cloudy this morning but still dry. I watered at the allotment yesterday after work but the bees were swarming so didn't hang about for too long! Had to water the garden at home too, it was really warm and sunny so did have an hour reading some 'Which' magazines I was given.
Work was nice and busy yesterday, hoping for the same today. All the reports have been posted out, hope the postman/woman doesn't get too annoyed when they open the postbox to find 200 odd white envelopes in there! Only 2 packed lunches given out, I didn't think we were still doing them as parents have been given vouchers to cover the cost of lunches - seems like some folk are getting lunches twice.
Two really good things happened yesterday, first was calling to drop off some bits for DD, they were outside in the garden and little Sophie gave me the best smiles and bobbed up and down waving her arms. Perhaps she hasn't forgotten me after all (or maybe she was just glad to see a different face!).
The second thing was receiving a parcel from DS2 in The Netherlands - he sent me a laptop he doesn't use, all sleek and white it is! It's wonderful not having to talk nicely to my failing machine and wondering if it's going to play games with me.
I watched the sewing Bee last night which I thoroughly enjoyed and realised after that I hadn't thought of the nation's current problems whilst it was on, an absolute tonic. A good day all round.
I hope you had your questions answered RR and are still recovering well.
Pleased to hear your DM's hearing is improving Nelski.
Sounds like a nice escape for you Gers, always good to get out.
Enjoy Thursday, there's a work quiz night after the applause this evening, let's see if I can improve on last week's dismal performance. Take care. XX13 -
Morning folks. It's a beautiful morning with the promise of more to come. The only thing on my agenda is DM's cleaner in about an hour. Once she's here I'll go out for a walk, my hip flexors are not getting stronger by sitting around so I need to balance the problems of walking for the need to do it.Happy Thursday to all.12

Morning everyone,
I'm new here having just worked out places like this exist, so I hope it's okay just to dive in! It's lovely and sunny here so I've got my first washload of the day on, ready to hang out later. I've taken my seedlings (although more like plantlings) out into the little back yard to start hardening off, ready to go up to the allotment, and I've fed my little sourdough starter which someone very kindly gave me a few weeks ago when I was struggling to find yeast.
I'm at work this evening, so my plan is to catch up on some chores today. I always struggle to find the patience to dust houseplant leaves, but they're a bit thick with it now, so really should get on that today.
Love the feel of this thread - reading through previous ones has just really cheered up my morning. Stay safe everyone13 -
Morning all
Its another beautiful day here I have a wash on the go with some towels and my dressing gown which I dropped my dinner down last night
I got on really well at the hospital, its earily quiet there and only me and one other lady there waiting to be seen, the consultant was really pleased with how I am healing and said I was 'text book' for healingall the aches and pains and lumps are normal and to be expected, I was very pleased indeed. She told me she removed two tumors from the breast as she found a smaller one hiding, she is going to send a bit off to the USA for testing to see if I need chemo so we now we wait to see about that, no date for the big op yet its just a case of wait and see what happens with the covid situation. She did say I could get on my bike for a very gentle ride in about a week, no hills or going too far but that made my day.
Not sure about dinner tonight I will go and have a look after this we have plenty in so wont starve.
Nels I am watching 'Reckoning' on netflix its very good and well worth a watch, I wasn't sure during the first episode but its just got better and better, hope you are ok xx
Have good days all xx12 -
So pleased to hear this RR, well done for doing nothing!!
Welcome TonberryDreams.
Off to work!11 -
Morning
Thank you Camelot its a relief for sureI loved you're description of Sophie bobbing up and down ....there is no way she has forgotten you and it seems it won't be long before you get a hug.
Have fun with your new lappy it sounds very posh
Scarlett thats impressive My carpets so need a shampoo as clumsiness is my want these days so it is hosting lots of spilled drinks. As soon as I can I will be getting someone to come in and sort it although I fear is well past salvation now
Looks like we may be heading for a "phew its a scorcher" day so a book and a chill day on the cards.
Nothing much else planned really with all the news suggesting some kind of normality returning next week then it may be the last peaceful slothy weekend. It worries me a bit to think about a possible second peak as actually nothing has changed virus wise but I guess it happen to happen eventually. Wouldn't be in the governments shoes atm.
Enjoy your day all and nanny Im coming after ya
