Water butt question

I connected my water to the drainpipe at a lower level than the connector, so when it fills up, it overflows and makes my patio a moss heaven.
This was not on purpose.
Ideally I would like to have two and not flood the patio
So could I do this, If I got another one, made sure it was at the same level as the connector - and put some sort of connector? Presumably both water butts would have to be at the same level as the connector?
I have googled this but am still unsure.

Both water butts have to be at the same level to fill equally.

If you connect another butt to the first, it will fill but still overflow once they are full.
You need to put a couple of bricks or similar under your existing butt to raise it so the top is above the connector.1 -
I have three connected in a row, each one a brick lower than the next, i.e. the first is on three bricks, next is on two bricks and the third is on one brickLove living in a village in the country side1

I used to have about six barrels in a row all connected at the same height. The connector to the first was set at the same level so when they were all full, the rain went into the overflow part of the connector you put on the downpipe.

The usual approach is to connect one butt to the downpipe, making sure it's at the right level. Then further ones can be connected to the first with a simple bit of pipe. They all find their own level.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.2 -
