Commission payments

My husband is a Kitchen & Bathroom Designer for Homebase. He normally receives a good amount of commission based on the amount of sales he makes in the month and is paid one month in arrears.
He was furloughed on 1st April. His pay at the end of April was 80% of his base salary plus his full commission from March.
I know there are complications over whether his average commission should be paid while on furlough. It would be nice to get this for April as it would be at least £200.
But now he is back at work. Kitchen and bathrooms are not being sold so he is working as a normal Homebase employee sanitising trolleys and dealing with customers (his contract states he is a kitchen/bathroom designer). So my question is whether he should be paid his average commission while he is not able to sell kitchens or bathrooms? I’m also not sure if he should be paid an average while on holiday or on sick leave.
