Private school fees Covid 19 still expected to pay summer term

I just wanted to know now the CMA have changes rules over contracts for the period of covid 19
will this also cover private schools?
I run a guests house and do holiday let’s and wedding venue, for all of these I have been told I must refund even though the contract say non refundable and they should have relevant insurance, ok fair enough.
so how is it our private school offered no refund for the first week closed and no service, they say work sent home so service provided!
They are still expecting us to pay the summer term fees when my child is at home, they are providing a very limited online support through teams but I cannot see how they can justify us paying for this?
As I have lost all my income I also asked would I need to give a fulls terms notice should I need to move him to a state school , again no understanding and told yes a full terms notice required which seems really hard.
When I saw the show last week on changes from the CMA I assumed it would also mean private schools ,clearly the schools don’t think so!

We will possibly have a clearer ideas after the Government press conference on Sunday when schools will re-open and whether that is this summer term - I assume private schools will see the same return as state schools.
In terms of providing a service, is the private school providing quality online lessons?  If so, it could still be argued they are providing a continuing service.  If not, why not, as I know many state schools are.
  • Online support not great and needs constant support from me the entire time, there is absolutely no way my eight year old would be able to use teams and work out what he needed to do.
lessons are recorded video of 1 to 2 minutes a day one for English one for math.

Many private schools  are providing online lessons (rather more than the state schools) but some  will go under if they have no income for this term - suspect some people will want to support the school to ensure it is still there for the kids in September
  • From our online is not great and speaking with friends with children at state schools what they are getting is considerably better, they was also given work online over the Easter holiday when we had nothing!
