Advice needed regarding the eligibility tool when applying for the self employment grant

On behalf of my spouse I have just checked the eligibility tool and he will be able to apply from Monday the 13th. As this grant has now been brought forward if i do apply as early as the 13th it will affect my U/C for this month. Silly question but can we delay applying for it? As last month I received zero U/C because of receiving 2 wages In  my first assesment period. Not having much luck.

It will affect your UC in the month that you receive the grant, not when you apply for it.

Yes, I understand that. But from my understanding you should receive the grant 6 days after applying and unfortunately that will fall in my assesment period. That's why I was asking if i can defer applying for the grant. I know the grant is there to help the self employed but so is U/C and so far we have received zero , but stupidly took out an advance.

I can see no reason why you can't time your application to suit your own circumstances.

It doesn't really matter when you apply because it will always be received during an assessment period, so it will affect the amount of UC you're entitled to. It's understandable that income received during an AP it reduces the amount of UC you're entitled to.
