Help for the self employed eligibility turned down

I've been turned down for the help for the self employed. I am self employed and have been for years. I am a domestic electrician. I used to do condition reports for social housing and obviously can't do that now. My full income, bar a few quid is through CIS. Is this why I've been turned down? It's devastating. I've no idea why I'm not eligible. Is there a glitch? Are there, any others who are cis and had the same happen.. Or, accepted even?

I have also been turned down and can't understand why. Have been self employed for years don't earn over 50k but I do claim tax credits both working and family. Because I only work part time my income isn't big and haven't paid much tax over the past 3 years, that's the only thing I can think of0

I think there may be reason for my rejection. I have two tax references. One for self assessment and one for CIS. I put in the cis number which is 10 didgets long too. But, now with my self assessment reff the website does not recognise the information. Its all very puzzling.0

Your Self Assessment UTR should be the same as for CIS.
Or do you mean you a contractor (like an employer but for CIS workers) not a subcontractor?0 -
A sub contractor.
I finally got in. I used the self employed reference on my self assessment on direct gov..... Not my sub contractor reference... and tried logging in from a different computer.
I hope this helps anyone else having trouble.0 -
Tax credits won't affect your eligibility to claim. Nor will tax paid. The system seems to be rejecting some taxpayers for reasons that are not known. Try contacting HMRC.nuttyarab said:I have also been turned down and can't understand why. Have been self employed for years don't earn over 50k but I do claim tax credits both working and family. My partner is a self employed builder. He was given the "you are not eligible" screen a few times but now it says he is eligible. I think it's a problem with their system0

This is coming up on a lot of threads. It seems if the majority of your "self employed" income is CIS you are being rejected. If any of you take this further and speak to hmrc can you let us know what they say? i.e. is it true that CIS does not count? or is it a bug in the system?0

Of course a self employed subcontractor subject to CIS counts for SEISS. It may be a bug in the system.0
